East Coast Young Musician of the  Year Competition

This event is normally held over two Saturdays in November. As a result of the covid-19 restrictions  the competition was not held in 2020. We await changes in government policy before announcing plans for 2021/2022

Building a reputation for opportunity and excellence in music takes time and patience. Also, it requires the cooperation of Local Authority Specialist Music Departments, University Music Departments, Specialist Music Colleges,  school music teachers, many private music teachers and parents who see the value of public performance in developing the musical talents of their students. Our reputation has been built up over the past decade. It is supported by sponsors who invest time and financial support into this event giving added incentive to participants.

If you are between the age of 5 to 25 you can participate in the competition. The competition has two distinctive streams. One for those following a classical learning experience and a separate competition for those whose interest is in the more popular music traditions (see Young Performers). You can choose your preferred instrument and self-select the music you wish to perform. There are specific age entry classes and we make allowances for beginners as well as advanced players. It is an opportunity to perform on a public platform and helpful comments are given by judges to encourage the development of musicianship.
